Eviction Defense Walk-in Clinic
To get help responding to your eviction (unlawful detainer) you can come to Legal Aid Society’s walk-in clinic located at the Hall of Justice courthouse in Downtown San Diego. No appointment is needed and services are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
We can help you prepare an answer to an Unlawful Detainer (Eviction) lawsuit, or we can help you ask the court for more time to move if you have a notice to vacate from the Sheriff.

Conservatorship Clinic
At our walk-in Conservatorship clinic, you can get help and information on the process to petition the court for Conservatorship of the Person. We can also help with basic written objections and with a competing petition. We do not help prepare evidence for trial or with any discovery or motions. The clinic helps participants on a first-come, first-served basis. We can only help if you are not represented by a lawyer. We also provide information regarding alternatives to Conservatorship.

Tax Walk-In Clinic
We help with federal tax disputes and for some CA state tax issues including audits, missing refunds or payments, and tax debt payment plans.

Name and Gender Marker Changes Clinic
Go directly to our walk-in Name and Gender Marker Change clinic to get information, education, and assistance completing paperwork to legally change your name or gender marker. No appointment is needed, and services are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Domestic Violence Restraining Order Clinic
We help people on a first-come, first-served basis with paperwork for a Petition for a Domestic Violence Restraining Order or a Response to a Domestic Violence Restraining Order. We help with forms and explain how to handle a restraining order case in court. We do not offer in-court representation.

Unemployment Insurance Benefits Clinic
LASSD can provide advice and information about applying for Unemployment Insurance Benefits with EDD.
We can also help with Notices of Determination, Notices of Denial and Notices of Ruling, including advice and assistance with appeals to an Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) or California Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board (CUIAB).
Our UIB Team can help with Notices of Overpayment and Benefit Overpayment Collection Notices, including advice and assistance with Installment Agreements and Overpayment Waivers.
