The Legal Aid Society Pro Bono Program is staffed by dedicated
professionals: attorneys, advocates, law students, and others who provide
valuable legal services without pay. With the support of more than 250
volunteers, Pro Bono Program staff and volunteers provided approximately
10,000 hours of legal assistance each year.
Civil Temporary Restraining Order Clinic
Pro Bono volunteers assist participants in preparing documents necessary for the hearing for individuals involved in harassment, stalking and violence issues between individuals who are not family members. Eligible clients receive legal consultation and/or representation.

Conservatorship Clinic
Pro Bono volunteers assist participants with petitioning for Conservatorship of the Person. Education and assistance with forms is provided.

Economic Impact Program for non-profit organizations. Services include establishing 501(c)3 status and providing tax advice regarding fundraising activities. Back to top.
Economic Impact Program
Advocates for low-income taxpayers how have disputes with the Internal Revenue Service. Provide advice and representation to taxpayers trying to resolve tax controversies through the IRS internal appeals procedures or through litigation in federal court. Assist at monthly clinics and represent taxpayer client before the IRS or in court. Training and mentoring are provided. Volunteer attorneys and certified public accountants are needed.

Estate Planning Services helps clients to write wills and powers of attorney. Back to top.
Homeless Prevention Advocacy (HAP) provides advice for clients about Unlawful Detainer defenses. Volunteers assist in the completion of benefit application forms, filing appeals, tracking down missing checks, and in general, dealing with the Social Security and Welfare offices. Since its inception, HAP has given assistance to thousands of homeless persons. Back to top.
